Pick-Your-Own Strawberries

2022 BERRY SEASON UPDATE:
Thanks for checking in! Things are busy busy busy on the farm this spring.  There is much to do before strawberries are ready to be picked but we're optimistic that we'll have a good crop and a great turnout in June when the berries ripen.

We have had a cool spring and some late freezing weather but the berries have been tucked in under their warm layer of straw.  Our spring processes are to uncover the berries, keep out as many of the weeds as we can and plant a few new berry plants for future years.

If you'd like to learn more about how to grow strawberries send us a message, we always looking for interested helpers, volunteers and team members who enjoy being outside.

Hi, We're Kristina and Mark, and we are excited to have you and your family or friends out to the farm this spring.

Come get your hands stained with berry juice and enjoy a beautiful sunset about five minutes west of Iowa City on Highway 1 SW.

Many hands make light work and we hope as you pick your own strawberries you meet new friends and have great conversations across the row.

Almost everyone loves a good strawberry, especially when you pick it yourself!
Berry Picking Hours:
During the June strawberry harvest we hope to be open from 9 in the morning until 6 at night but weather (and how quickly all the ripe berries get picked) will dictate when we need to close each day.  That's why it's especially important to check in before coming over. Sundays we'll open in the afternoon only if there are still ripe berries after Saturday's picking.  Always check the top of the website before coming - we'll post as soon as we know that we'll need to close each day.
Parking and Where to Go:
We have two patches this year - alternating from one to the other each day lets the berries ripen between pickings.  The West patch is hidden behind the trees a bit but follow the parked cars and you'll find us.  The East patch is more visible from the road and on the Iowa City side of the driveway.  An arrow on a sign will help guide you but use common sense too, if no one is in the East patch head over to the West patch. Parking is the same for both patches.

This little patch is great! The plants were well taken care of and looked very healthy. Mark was super accommodating and a great host. He helped us pick our fruit as well. Went with my parents and 2 year old and we all had a great time. The fruit itself was super sweet and we made a pie afterwards. Will definitely come again next year!

My family and I had such a pleasant time at The Berry Basket Farm last week. The attractive signage and the walk down the winding mulch path through the trees to the berry patch made for a great first impression. We were welcomed and set up with a row of berries ready for the picking. Even my 2-year-old got in on the fun as she plopped ripe berries into her small tin pail! We will be back next year!

I visited the farm earlier this week with my two boys, ages 6 and 2. We had a wonderful time! Farmer Mark was helpful and directed us to the best picking areas. My boys loved the little walk through the trees to get to the strawberries, and using the baskets to pick the fruit. We brought a picnic lunch and had a wonderful morning. We will definitely be back!
